Xerox: Sustainable innovation leads to new market potentialCheaper and greener Paul-Peter Feld, Director HR & Organisation gave a presentation during the KLM Open on how sustainable innovation carries the potential to open up new markets.
Following the Blue Ocean Strategy approach he guided visitors into the into the world of Xerox, revealing how ‘responsible leadership’ forms the DNA for continuous renewal. Blue is within that context the new platform for sustainability, which goes a step further than green. With practical examples Feld showed how Xerox embodies this and how green forms that basis for blue.
75% of Xerox revenues come from products and services that have been developed over the last three years. The mantra for innovation at Xerox consists of six S’s: Smarter, Smaller, Simpler, Speedier, Secure and Sustainable. Eco-efficiency
An illustration of this is the recently launched ColorQube 9200, a printer with solid ink technology. This technology reduces the costs of printing with up to 62% in comparison to traditional color laser printers. “Not only the costs for color printing are reduced, also the environmental benefits of the ColorQube are distinctive”, says Jo van Onsem, General Manager of Xerox The Netherlands. “The new print head technology results in 90% reduction in waste and limits the environmental effects of the production and transport substantially.” The technology leads to higher productivity, cost reductions, less waste and reduced CO2 emissions.
